Senior Curriculum Structure and Business Engagement Lead – Fixed Term 24 months
Help Shape the Future of Skills, Curriculum and Employer Engagement in Scotland
This opportunity presents a key strategic role in a landmark collaboration between Edinburgh Napier University, Queen Margaret University and SRUC. Working across three autonomous institutions, you will lead the development of innovative approaches to curriculum design and employer engagement, helping to address regional skills needs, strengthen industry partnerships and explore new models of academic collaboration.
About the Role
Working closely with academic leaders, employers, business partners and programme colleagues, you will drive innovation while ensuring academic quality, institutional autonomy and regulatory compliance remain at the heart of decision-making.
Building a shared understanding of regional skills priorities and opportunities for collaboration with employers and economic development partners, you will be working with colleagues across the Alliance. In this role, you will develop and deliver innovative approaches to curriculum design that reduce duplication, improve efficiency and create opportunities for greater collaboration while safeguarding the distinctive strengths of each institution.
In addition to providing academic leadership for shared curriculum initiatives, you will lead the development of regional business engagement activity, strengthening relationships with employers, particularly SMEs, and supporting the Alliance's contribution to regional economic development initiatives.

The role also includes direct line management of a Partnership Officer, Business Engagement Senior Officer and Business Engagement and Analysis Officer, providing leadership, coaching and development to build a high-performing team capable of delivering successful outcomes across all partner institutions.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for an experienced and influential academic leader with a strong track record in curriculum design, development and quality assurance within higher education. Combining strategic vision with practical delivery, you will have experience of leading complex academic initiatives, building collaborative partnerships and securing stakeholder buy-in across diverse organisational environments.
You will bring:
- Ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders will enable you to work effectively with academic leaders, employers and external partners to drive curriculum innovation, strengthen regional skills development and support meaningful collaboration across institutions.
- Sound academic and professional judgement, experience of navigating governance and approval processes, and a proven ability to lead teams, manage resources and deliver successful outcomes.
- Experience of higher education quality frameworks, employer engagement, skills analysis, strategic partnerships or large-scale collaborative programmes will enable you to thrive in this role and make a significant contribution to the success of the Scottish Tertiary Alliance Framework.

Additional Information:
- Salary: £ 58,225 - £69,488 per annum
- This post is funded until August 2028 and is offered on a fixed-term basis. Continuation beyond this date will be subject to ongoing funding.
- On this occasion, the University will not consider applicants requiring sponsorship or visa support for this role. International applicants will therefore only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right to work in the UK.
