The Role's Purpose
Plexal operates at the intersection of government, industry and emerging technology, helping organisations turn innovation ambition into practical capability, adoption and measurable impact. National Security is a significant sector for Plexal’s Innovation Services business, where we enable our government clients’ adoption of new technology and create innovation ecosystems to enable their adaptation to the opportunity of disruptive and emerging technology.
The Senior Customer Lead National Security is responsible for leading engagement with Plexal’s National Security clients in London and the adjacent region, building strategic partnerships to grow Plexal’s National Security business in region, evolving Plexal’s propositions and client offering in this market, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and success. This role sits in the wider National Security and Defence team, supporting the whole lifecycle of client engagement and delivery.
The successful candidate will combine commercial capacity with government insight, helping Plexal to understand where policy, funding and customer priorities are moving and translating those trends into strategic opportunities, partnerships and sustainable revenue growth.
What You'll Do
- Act as account lead for Plexal’s National Security clients located in London and the wider region, ensuring strong, resilient partnerships through the whole life cycle of Plexal’s client engagement from prospecting, proposal development, opportunity identification, and customer satisfaction in project delivery. Demonstrate highly visible presence with existing clients to augment Plexal’s brand and reputation.
- Utilise engagement on client delivery to build highly effective client relationships that support Plexal’s account objectives.
- Drive net-new business in the customer base, leading a campaign of revenue diversification to broaden Plexal’s engagement across the client business units, and landing material value and duration contracts with the customer base.
- Expand partnerships with the NS sector supplier base to deliver new revenue opportunities through partnership and new routes to market for Plexal.
- Work alongside the wider NS and Defence team to develop, refine and market new propositions to Plexal’s NS clients, ensuring that Plexal is able to meet customer requirement and adapts to new opportunities in the NS market.
- Contribute to the strategy and delivery of the NS & Defence team, providing expert insights into customer needs and procurement trends, and supporting NS&D strategic campaigns across the waterfront of client delivery.
- Be a valued contributor to the evolution of Plexal’s GTM function, supporting process improvements and maturation of business development.

Your Skills
- Able to operate autonomously as an individual contributor, delivering against GTM objectives and targets.
- Accountable for personal delivery, and able to work collaboratively in a wider GTM team contributing to overall NS&D objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop rapport and strong relationships with clients, understand client needs and align Plexal to deliver against them.
- A strategic thinker, able to understand long-term trends in clients and develop credible Plexal propositions.
- A collaborative worker, with a strong bias to supporting and enabling broader teams (both GTM and London-based Plexal colleagues).
Your Experience
Essential:
- Proven track record of selling, winning new business and proposition development in National Security
- Demonstrable experience of working directly with National Security clients, especially those located in London, including demonstration of client delivery and relationship-based sales
- Extant, valid SC (essential), DV (preferred). NS sponsorship preferred.
- Experience working with partners to shape and deliver consortium bids and strategic opportunities.
- Strong understanding of NS sector procurement and commercial processes.
- Strong commercial acumen including opportunity shaping, negotiation and deal strategy.
- Ability to operate effectively across strategy, relationship management and hands-on opportunity delivery.

Desirable:
- Experience of working on technology adoption, innovation ecosystems, or organisational change in government, especially National Security.
- Demonstrable success securing and growing contracts valued at £1m+ and/or multi-year engagements.
Who You Are
Due to the nature of this position, our work and our client engagements, the post holder must be willing and eligible to achieve a minimum of SC clearance. Pre-existing SC clearance is welcome.

- Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 depending on skills and experience
