Department Overview
Within Cyber Security, you will work alongside colleagues focused on protecting the security, integrity and resilience of the Bank's technology estate. Whether identifying risks, improving controls, or contributing to secure system design, Cyber plays a vital role in safeguarding critical services and information. Our teams are aligned to industry best practice and committed to continuous learning. You will be supported through mentoring, hands-on experience, and structured development opportunities as you build your career in cyber security.
The Role
As part of the Identity & Access Management (IDAM) team, you will support the design, delivery and continuous improvement of identity capabilities across the Bank. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development and maintenance of secure identity solutions such as SailPoint, AD, Azure and CyberArk.
- Contributing to engineering activities across IDAM platforms
- Assisting in the operation and optimisation of IDAM services across on-premise and cloud environments
- Working with colleagues to embed secure-by-design principles into technology solutions
You will gain exposure to core identity domains, including identity lifecycle management, access control, and privileged access. The role provides an opportunity to develop practical experience while building a strong understanding of how identity supports cyber security and operational resilience.
Minimum Criteria
- Experience or strong interest in cyber security, software engineering, or identity and access management
- Foundational programming or scripting capability, including the ability to read and modify code
- Understanding of core security concepts (e.g. authentication, authorisation, least privilege, secure design)
- Willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical depth
Essential Criteria
- Ability to analyse problems and contribute to technical solutions
- Interest in secure system design and implementation of security controls
- Experience working collaboratively within a technical team
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- A proactive, curious mindset with a desire to develop within cyber security

Desirable Criteria
- Awareness of IDAM concepts (e.g. joiners/movers/leavers, access governance, privileged access)

- General understanding of cyber security best practices and threat landscape
- Exposure to cloud or enterprise technology environments

Deep IDAM expertise is not required from the outset, but we are looking for individuals with solid foundations, curiosity, and the ability to grow within a technical cyber environment.

Salary and Benefits Information
We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.
The salary on offer ranges from: London £61,440 - £69,120 Leeds £55,280 - £62,190

- Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.

- 26 days' annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.

National Security Vetting Process
Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
