Role/Team overview
Our products, platforms and technologies are constantly evolving that’s why keeping Sky safe from cyber-attacks is one of our top priorities. Our Cyber Security team helps the business grow while protecting our customers, colleagues and partners from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. Our team includes Cyber Fusion Centre, Security Services, Risk and Compliance, Programme Delivery and Business Security, and we work across the UK, Italy and Germany. Join us and you’ll get involved in tackling challenges and future threats in an ever-changing cyber landscape.
You will join our comprehensive Cyber Defence Department as a senior member of the dedicated Cyber Operations team. You will operate within a robust security ecosystem, partnering directly with Threat Hunting, Threat Intelligence, Engineering, and Threat Vulnerability Management.
What you’ll do
- Act as escalation for L2 Analysts for a variety of cyber security events.
- Perform timely and accurate investigations of escalated L2 Analyst cases and Incidents with a view to remediation.
- Liaise with Security Platform teams and other L3 Analysts to agree any potential automation improvements.
- Where appropriate, liaise directly with affected staff members in the wider business, or support owners for context, awareness, and potential remediation/closure.
- Liaise with L2 & L3 Analysts from other territories and where required, co-ordinate high profile incidents spanning multiple regions.
- Review other potential log sources and internal security systems to provide supplemental information to build the most comprehensive and conclusive cases possible.
- Where required work with other areas of the business on Cyber related projects and initiatives including new tooling proof of concepts.
- Participate in an on-call rota for out of hours escalations of high priority incidents.

What you’ll bring
Essential criteria:
- Deep expertise operating within a highly technical Security Operations environment.
- Proven track record in driving Cyber Security Investigations and managing complex Incident Response scenarios.
- Advanced proficiency in utilising Anti-malware and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of advanced threat landscapes, intricate investigations, incident response frameworks, and effective remediation strategies.
- Expert command of a wide array of modern cyber security systems and diagnostic tooling.
- Strong operational knowledge of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) architecture and advanced querying.
- In-depth knowledge of OS internals and security architectures across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Experience navigating cloud-native security environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) alongside familiarity with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Advanced comprehension of enterprise networking protocols, network architecture, and infrastructure security.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distil and articulate complex security events clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- A highly collaborative professional who mentors peers, elevates the team, and drives collective success.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Demonstrated capability in leveraging Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) platforms to streamline and elevate security operations.
- Thorough understanding of User Behaviour Analytics (UBA) systems and sophisticated anomaly detection.
- Advanced knowledge of offensive security methodologies, including common exploit chains, reverse engineering basics, or penetration testing techniques.
- Relevant industry certifications demonstrating specialised knowledge in threat hunting, incident response, or forensics (e.g., SANS GCIA, GCIH, GCFA, OSCP).

How you’ll work
We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 2 days in the office per week.
