Senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant
Location: Belfast / Hybrid, with regular client-site travel
Salary: £60-80k, depending on experience
Package: Car allowance, annual bonus, private healthcare, pension and life assurance
MCS Group is working with an established business systems consultancy seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant.
This is a senior, client-facing position involving full-lifecycle Business Central implementations across finance, manufacturing, warehousing, supply chain and service-management environments. The successful consultant will lead requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, training and go-live activities while acting as a trusted advisor to clients throughout their transformation programmes.
The role
- Lead full-lifecycle Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementations.
- Analyse and document requirements across finance, manufacturing, warehousing, supply chain and service management.
- Configure core Business Central functionality.
- Produce functional specifications for integrations and bespoke development.
- Facilitate client workshops, process-discovery sessions, training and UAT.
- Advise clients on process optimisation, system adoption and digital transformation.
- Support go-live, hypercare, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Deliver system enhancements and continuous-improvement projects.
- Support project scoping, estimation, planning and risk management.
- Participate in solution reviews and design approvals.
- Work closely with project managers, developers and technical consultants.
- Mentor and support junior functional consultants.

The person
- At least five years' functional consulting experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Dynamics NAV.
- Strong hands-on Business Central configuration and implementation experience.
- Excellent understanding of finance processes, including AP, AR, general ledger and cash management.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing, warehousing, supply chain or inventory processes.
- Experience leading client workshops, requirements gathering, UAT, training and go-live activities.
- Ability to produce clear functional specifications and test scripts.
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple client engagements and working independently.
- Willingness to travel regularly to client sites depending on the project phase.

Desirable experience
- MB-800 Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant certification.
- Microsoft Power Platform knowledge.
- Experience with Copilot, agentic AI or other emerging Microsoft technologies.
- Power BI, Excel and Business Central configuration packages.
- Experience mentoring junior consultants.
- Degree in business, IT, accounting or a related discipline.
