Responsibilities

  • Becoming the expert for the Finance domain with respect to how we store, understand and utilise data for our business processes and reporting.
  • Working with Stakeholders to document requirements, business outcomes, data flows and associated artefacts using identified tools and techniques.
  • Supporting the Delivery Team and wider stakeholders with delivery of requirements through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Being aware of technology stack, data architecture and data culture principles to ensure you represent the team with stakeholders and enable the team to deliver expected outcomes.
  • Map and interrogate End-to-End existing finance data pipelines, understanding data lineages from source systems through to financial reporting (including tax, general ledger, FP&A, and reserving functions).
  • Audit existing data practices and workflows to identify areas for improvement, driving process automation and optimization where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders to bridge the gap between technical data structures and downstream business utility.

Skills

  • Strong London Market Insurance background required.
  • Accountant qualification is not required; however, a strong working knowledge of how the Finance function of a London Market works.
  • Tenacious, numerate and details focused.
  • Excellent ability to communicate and work with stakeholders across functions and partners, understand business requirements and help them make use of existing data tools and capabilities.
  • Evidence problem solving and root cause identification skills.
  • Must have experience in capturing, defining, and specifying data mapping and transformation rules.
  • Thrives in a scaled agile environment involving cross functional execution teams.
  • Strong technical data background is crucial for the role. This includes excellent knowledge of SQL, data modelling and management techniques.
  • Skills in implementing reports / analytics will be desirable.
  • Knowledge of Snowflake and DBT is desirable.
  • Knowledge and/or Experience of Policy Administration System (PAS) would be desirable.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Accounting systems such as Aptitude.
