Overview
Dot Collective is hiring a Senior Data Analyst on a fully remote basis, open to candidates anywhere in the UK. There is an ad hoc travel requirement to London for client-facing work. The salary is £70,000 - £85,000.
This role exists because Dot Collective's data analysis team has solid general capacity and needs someone who can own the data modelling specialism - dimensional models, data vaults, E-R work, and the design decisions around lakes, warehouses, and marts. Day-to-day, you will sit at the intersection of client relationship and technical delivery: gathering requirements, shaping data architecture, and translating complex analysis for both clients and internal engineering teams. The person who thrives here combines genuine hands-on depth in data modelling with the credibility and communication skills to bring resistant stakeholders along. This is not a back-room technical role - it carries real commercial weight.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the bridge between clients and the internal team, managing stakeholder relationships and translating requirements in both directions
- Gather use cases and functional and non-functional requirements, and turn them into clear user stories
- Own data modelling work: E-R models, dimensional models, data vaults, and the design of data lakes, warehouses, and marts
- Lead data profiling, mapping, cleansing, transformation, aggregation, and quality assurance
- Perform data exploration across formats including.csv,.json, and.XML
- Explain analysis and architectural decisions to data engineers, architects, and testers
- Run UAT and create mock and testing data
- Apply knowledge of OLAP and OLTP, ETL processes, and API design to delivery
- Work across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and tools including Databricks, Snowflake, and Informatica
- Use Python and Pandas, SQL, Oracle, and T-SQL for data query and analysis
- Produce reporting and visualisation using BI tools such as Qlik, Quicksight, Power BI, or Tableau
Requirements
Must-haves
- Significant hands-on experience in data modelling, including dimensional models, data vaults, and E-R models
- Proven ability to manage and influence senior or resistant stakeholders, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience gathering requirements and writing user stories in a client-facing delivery context
- Practical knowledge of data profiling, mapping, cleansing, transformation, aggregation, and quality processes
- Competence across data query languages: SQL, Oracle, and T-SQL
- Experience working with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Familiarity with ETL concepts and tools (Snowflake, Informatica)
- Experience with Databricks
- Ability to work with Python and Pandas
- Understanding of OLAP vs OLTP, data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts

Ideal Candidate Profile
- You have serious hands-on experience in data modelling and you know it well enough to make architectural recommendations and defend them in a room. But the technical depth is only half of it. You are comfortable with clients who push back, who are set in their ways, or who do not yet see why change is in their interest - and you know how to move them without losing their trust. You are used to working across the full delivery cycle, from requirements gathering through to UAT, and you can communicate clearly with engineers, architects, and senior client stakeholders in the same day. You are drawn to roles where your work has a commercial dimension, where doing the job well does not just mean delivering on time but means opening up what is possible for the team around you.
