Senior Data Analyst

Location: City of London (3 days per week)
Salary: £70,000–£85,000 + 20–40% bonus + benefits

Gravitas has partnered with a well-established London Market insurance organisation to recruit a Senior Data Analyst into its Data Analytics team. This is a priority hire with a real need for someone who can add value quickly, particularly in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric and who is confident partnering with underwriters and senior stakeholders.

Background note: Lloyd’s / London Market experience is still preferred, but we are now open to candidates from broader insurance and financial services backgrounds. Exceptional candidates from outside these sectors will be considered if they are technically strong and commercially minded.

The Role

Reporting to the Data Analytics Manager (Ballint’s team), you’ll sit in the “bridge” between the business and data/IT teams—translating stakeholder needs into well-scoped analysis and high-quality Power BI deliverables.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This role is commercially led (stakeholder partnership, requirements shaping, influencing decision-making) rather than deep pipeline engineering. You’ll also work closely with the Senior Data Scientist to agree clear handover points between analytics and data science.

Key Projects

  • Delegated data programme (multi-year): delivering granular, underwriter-ready insight and MI.
  • Power BI adoption & rationalisation: improving standards, reusability, governance, and reducing duplicated / inconsistent reporting.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Partner closely with underwriters and business stakeholders to understand objectives, shape requirements, and communicate insight clearly.
  • Design, build and enhance Power BI dashboards and semantic models aligned to best practice (not quick prototypes).
  • Help drive Power BI standards and governance (modelling discipline, performance, usability, trusted metrics).
  • Collaborate with data/IT teams to ensure upstream data supports commercial reporting needs (without being the core data engineering owner).

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong experience delivering Power BI in a commercial stakeholder environment (you must be credible with senior stakeholders; this is a key interview focus).
  • Power BI: strong modelling discipline and best practices (incl. star schema thinking, measure design, performance considerations).
  • Ability to translate ambiguous questions into clear, deliverable analytics outputs.

Preferred / Advantageous

  • Lloyd’s / London Market / specialty insurance experience (preferred, not mandatory).
  • Exposure to Copilot / AI tooling in analytics workflows (nice-to-have, not required).

Why This Role

If you enjoy being the person who can get underwriters aligned, define what “good” looks like, and deliver high-quality BI that stands up to scrutiny—this is a strong opportunity in a team investing in better decision support and BI maturity.
