An established London Market insurance business is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join its growing Data & Analytics function.
This is a highly business facing role, working closely with stakeholders across underwriting, claims, finance and operations to turn complex insurance data into meaningful commercial insight. The role would suit someone who combines strong technical capability across SQL and Power BI with a genuine understanding of the insurance market. You will remain technically hands on, but a major part of your value will come from understanding the business behind the data and helping stakeholders make better decisions.

- Partnering with underwriting, claims, finance and operational teams to understand business challenges and analytical requirements
- Analysing complex insurance datasets to identify trends, risks, performance drivers and commercial opportunities
- Producing insight around underwriting, portfolio, claims and operational performance
- Building and maintaining dashboards, MI and visualisations using Power BI
- Writing and optimising complex SQL queries across multiple data sources
- Translating business requirements into clear analytical solutions
- Presenting findings to senior technical and non technical stakeholders
- Supporting the development of data models, reporting frameworks and analytical solutions
- Working with Delegated Authority and Bordereaux data where required
- Identifying data quality issues and helping improve data controls and governance
- Working within Azure based data environments, including Azure Data Lake
- Helping drive a more data led approach to decision making across the organisation

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
