About Goalhanger
Goalhanger is one of the UK’s most exciting independent media companies, the team behind some of the world’s most successful shows, including The Rest Is Politics, The Rest Is History, The Rest Is Football, The Rest Is Entertainment, and a fast-growing slate. We’re a creative, fast-moving organisation with big ambitions and a brilliant team that makes them happen.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst - Memberships to help us deliver our next stage of growth.
You’ll give the Memberships team a reliable, decision-useful understanding of performance, customer behaviour and commercial outcomes and be the principal internal owner of membership data quality, definitions and analytical usefulness, helping the team get lasting value from the new warehouse and lifecycle-CRM environment.
What you’ll do:
- Own core membership reporting: maintain a clear, trusted suite of reports and dashboards; reconcile movements and closing membership; explain changes by show, channel, plan, tenure and geography where relevant.
- Deliver commercial insight: analyse acquisition, conversion, renewal, churn, cohort retention, plan mix, offers, pricing and customer value; turn findings into practical recommendations.
- Own the memberships analytical layer: create and maintain reusable SQL models, marts and governed analytical outputs in the warehouse, with clear grain, keys, definitions and documentation.
- Steward metric definitions and data quality: maintain a business glossary, monitor discrepancies and freshness, quantify impact, diagnose analytical causes and escalate technical issues with reproducible evidence.
- Support customer and engagement analysis: connect subscription outcomes with available CRM, website, newsletter, podcast, community, commerce and campaign data, while respecting source limitations and identity coverage.
- Support lifecycle and growth measurement: define analytical audiences and measurement requirements, QA segment counts, evaluate campaigns/journeys and help design credible tests and holdouts where appropriate.
- Enable self-service: help non-technical colleagues use data well, explain uncertainty plainly, and coach the team on the difference between useful evidence and misleading conclusions.
- Protect continuity as systems evolve: assess the analytical impact of changes to products, pricing, billing, CRM and tracking; specify data requirements and acceptance checks; maintain clear documentation and handover material.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong SQL: joins, aggregation, dates, windows, deduplication, event data, cohort logic and reliable handling of grain, NULLs and denominators.
- Hands-on experience working in a modern cloud data warehouse such as BigQuery, Snowflake or Redshift.
- Experience creating and maintaining reusable analytical data models, not just querying pre-built tables or building dashboards.
- Strong understanding of subscription or recurring-customer economics: acquisition, renewals, churn, retention, cohorts, plan changes and customer value.
- Practical BI and spreadsheet capability, with judgement about how reporting can mislead and how to keep calculations transparent.
- Strong data-quality and reconciliation instincts: able to distinguish a real business movement from stale, incomplete, duplicated or misdefined data.
- Ability to move from an ambiguous commercial question to a sensible analytical approach, a clear recommendation and a next action.
- Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders and confidence to challenge inconsistent definitions or unsupported conclusions.
