Senior Data Business Analyst
Edinburgh (Hybrid)

Are you an experienced Data Business Analyst who enjoys getting under the skin of complex data? We're working with a leading investment management organisation looking for a Data Solutions Analyst to join a high-performing data function. This role sits between the business and engineering teams, translating complex business requirements into clear, structured data specifications that enable the delivery of trusted reporting and analytics solutions.
This is an opportunity to work on enterprise-scale data initiatives, collaborating with business stakeholders, Data Engineers and governance teams to shape high-quality data products that support critical business decisions.

What you'll be doing
- Gather and document data-focused business requirements.
- Analyse source data, business processes and existing datasets.
- Define business rules, transformation logic and data definitions.
- Work with Data Engineers to translate requirements into technical delivery.
- Support data validation, testing and defect resolution.
- Ensure data products are accurate, trusted and fit for purpose.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to improve reporting and analytics capabilities.
- Promote best practice in documentation, governance and continuous improvement.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Data Business Analyst or Data Solutions Analyst.
- Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills.
- Excellent SQL and data interrogation experience.
- Experience working with structured databases such as Oracle, Snowflake or similar.
- Ability to document business rules and data transformation logic.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across both business and technical teams.
- Experience supporting reporting, analytics or data platform initiatives.

- Power BI or similar reporting platforms.
