Senior Data Analyst

We only ask that you come into our London office a couple of times a month for team strategy days and socials - but of course, you're more than welcome to come in as much as you like! (+ we're working a 4 day work week - Fridays off!) 🏡

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 + benefits listed below

Cuvva was the first to sell hourly insurance via an app in the UK back in 2016. And we haven’t stopped innovating since. We’ve sold over 16 million policies, and supported over 1.5 million drivers and we’re just getting started. We’re a team of 100 people, passionate about solving our customers’ problems. Join us. 🚀

Our Data & BI Stack:

Data & Analytics: SQL, Python, Sagemaker, Jupyter
BI & Visualisation: Looker, Power BI
Data & Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform & wider cloud data environment
Product & Collaboration: Notion, Miro, Figma
AI & Data Science: Python based science tooling and emerging AI capabilities

About the role:

We’re looking for a commercially minded, technically strong individual contributor to join our Business Intelligence team at Cuvva. You’ll report to BI Management, working on some of the most interesting data and analytical problems across our insurance business.

We’re deliberately keeping this role broad. You might currently be working as a Data Analyst, Pricing Analyst, Data Scientist, BI Analyst or BI Manager, but what matters most is the depth of your analytical thinking, your understanding of insurance, and your ability to turn data into better commercial decisions.

You’ll work with complex datasets to understand performance, identify trends and opportunities, and help us make smarter decisions about our products and our business. You’ll bring industry knowledge, strong statistical reasoning, hands-on experience with SQL and Python, and the curiosity to dig beyond the obvious answer. You’ll be comfortable moving between detailed analysis and the bigger commercial question: what does this tell us, and what should we do about it?

Insurance experience is important to us, particularly within personal lines. Motor insurance is especially relevant, but we'd also consider strong candidates from other personal lines backgrounds such as home or pet. You’ll bring an understanding of how insurance businesses operate, the role data plays in pricing and performance, and the commercial factors that sit behind the numbers.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across areas including performance monitoring, pricing, product analytics, marketing, data science and AI, partnering with teams across Cuvva to turn analysis into action. We’re looking for someone who can challenge thinking, spot opportunities, explain complex ideas clearly and help us make better decisions through data.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

On a day-to-day basis you’ll:

  • Manipulate, analyse and interpret datasets to provide insights and recommendations that help our business make better decisions
  • Work directly with our Head of Product to size opportunities before we build them, and to measure the impact of what we've shipped once it's live
  • Design and interpret A/B tests and feature rollouts, with a clear view on what the result means for the product and wider business
  • Work day to day with behavioural data, using funnel analysis and event tracking to connect app behaviour with policy, pricing and claims data
  • Analyse pricing, business and product performance, identifying trends, opportunities and areas where deeper investigation is needed
  • Follow analysis through to claims and loss ratio, so we understand the risk and commercial impact of what we ship, not just conversion
  • Own metric definitions and contribute to our semantic layer, helping ensure the business works from a consistent version of each number
  • Collaborate with BI and Data Engineering colleagues on analytical and data projects
  • Drive self-serve analytics across the business by coaching stakeholders and building the dashboards, metrics and documentation they need to answer their own questions
  • Support the Product team as we launch and iterate on new products and features

You’ll do great here if you have:

  • Experience working with data in the insurance industry, ideally within personal lines and preferably motor
  • Strong statistical reasoning, and can explain what an analysis does and doesn't support, including the assumptions and limitations behind your conclusions
  • A strong commercial mindset and can connect analysis to business performance, customer outcomes and commercial decisions
  • Are highly proficient in SQL and Python, being comfortable using Python for analysis, modelling and problem solving
  • Can work confidently with complex datasets, joining information from different sources to uncover insights and answer ambiguous questions
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner with senior stakeholders, ask the right questions and challenge thinking when needed
  • Excellent communication skills and can turn complex analysis into a clear story, recommendation or decision for your audience
  • Are comfortable working across functions and collaborating with BI, Data Engineering, Product, Pricing and other teams to solve problems
  • Experience working as a Data Analyst, Pricing Analyst, Data Scientist, BI Analyst or in a similar analytical role
  • Are curious about new approaches to data, including data science and AI, and are interested in how they can improve the way we make decisions
  • The ability to take an ambiguous business problem, work out what we need to know, and independently take it from question through analysis and recommendation

It’s a bonus if you have:

  • Have designed, run or interpreted experiments, A/B tests or feature rollouts
  • Have worked with a behavioural analytics tool such as Mixpanel, Amplitude or GA4 alongside a data warehouse
  • Have experience with machine learning models, including understanding how their performance and accuracy are evaluated
