Global Technology Business | 12-Month Contract
£40-£43 per hour | London or Reading | Flexible Hybrid

Robert Walters is recruiting a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer for a leading global technology business.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on SQL, Databricks, data pipelines, analytics engineering, and infrastructure improvement, with AI tools used to accelerate development rather than as the core product.

The Role

You will work across a large-scale enterprise data environment, supporting:

  • Data pipeline and analytics development
  • SQL and Python engineering
  • Bug fixing and technical enhancements
  • Data modelling and ETL/ELT
  • Performance and infrastructure optimisation
  • Data quality and governance
  • AI-assisted coding, testing, and debugging
  • Process and architecture improvement

The team is particularly interested in engineers who can challenge existing approaches, identify inefficiencies, and propose simpler, more scalable solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong SQL
  • Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering experience
  • Databricks or comparable platforms such as Snowflake, Hadoop, or SQL Server
  • Python and ideally PySpark
  • ETL/ELT and data modelling
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Good understanding of data architecture and infrastructure
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience using, or willingness to adopt, tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or Cursor

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
