Job Title

Senior Data and Operations Analyst - Private Companies

Department

Private Companies Operations-Investment Specialist-UK

Overview of Department

Purpose of Role

The purpose of this role is to strengthen the Private Companies business through high-quality data, analytics and management information across the lifecycle of the investment whilst also supporting operational elements of deal flow.

This is a hands-on role responsible for the quality and usability of data within the Private Companies team, maintaining and developing our analytical and reporting capability, and providing insights to support departmental decision-making.

The role will work across portfolio company financial information, valuations, investment activity and fund administration data across multiple vehicles, along with client and prospect reporting. Power BI will be central, with responsibility for maintaining and enhancing reporting, developing new analytical solutions and helping colleagues turn data into clear, actionable insight.

The role will also own the development of the Private Companies deal management process, establishing a consistent approach to capturing, tracking and analysing deal activity from initial opportunity through to execution.

Responsibilities

Data Management and Reporting

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the quality, completeness and usability of key Private Companies datasets.
  • Monitor data completeness and consistency across systems, ensuring material gaps or discrepancies are identified and resolved.
  • Reconcile information from different systems and third-party sources where required.
  • Build, maintain and improve Power BI dashboards covering areas such as portfolio performance, valuations, investment activity and deal flow.
  • Improve the efficiency and consistency of client and prospect data requests to better support both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Improve reporting processes by replacing manual and fragmented activity with repeatable, automated and controlled solutions.
  • Support recurring and ad hoc information requirements across the Private Companies team.
  • Oversee and maintain company and instrument records.

Analysis and Insight

  • Use Private Companies data to identify trends, risks and opportunities relevant to departmental decision-makers.
  • Provide insight and interpretation rather than simply producing management information.
  • Work with investment, operational and leadership colleagues to translate business questions into useful analysis.
  • Present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactively identify opportunities where better use of data could improve decision-making or business efficiency.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
