Role - Data Solutions Architect
Start Date - Mid to late August
Duration - 3 – 6 months
Rate - £750 - £850 per day depending on experience

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Solutions Architect to join a major enterprise digital engineering transformation programme. This role is focused on designing the data architecture that enables seamless interoperability across a complex ecosystem of engineering platforms, digital design tools and analytics solutions.
The successful consultant will be responsible for defining how data moves between multiple engineering systems, ensuring information is structured, governed and integrated to support large-scale digital transformation.
The programme is introducing a range of new engineering technologies, including CAD platforms, analytics capabilities and digital engineering tooling and requires an architect who can design the information architecture that connects these systems together.
The Opportunity
This programme sits within a large Digital Engineering transformation where the business is modernising its engineering estate through the implementation of new digital tools and platforms.
As new systems are introduced, including CAD applications, engineering design tools and analytical platform, the organisation needs a senior architect to ensure data can flow efficiently between them.

You'll work closely with technical and business stakeholders to define how information should be modelled, integrated and governed across the wider engineering ecosystem.
This is a highly visible role requiring both technical depth and strong stakeholder engagement skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design the end-to-end data architecture across multiple engineering platforms.
- Define how data is exchanged between engineering applications.
- Create information architecture models supporting enterprise interoperability.
- Design integration patterns between upstream and downstream systems.
- Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models where required.
- Ensure consistency of data across interconnected engineering applications.
- Work closely with programme leadership to support digital engineering objectives.
- Collaborate with solution architects, engineering teams and platform owners.
- Identify integration challenges and propose scalable architectural solutions.
- Support implementation teams by translating architecture into deliverable work packages.
- Produce architecture documentation, data flow diagrams and integration designs.
- Ensure architectural decisions align with enterprise standards and future scalability.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Typical activities will include:
- Designing data flows between engineering systems.
- Mapping information across multiple applications.
- Defining interoperability between platforms.
- Reviewing existing architecture and identifying integration gaps.
- Working with business SMEs to understand engineering processes.
- Producing architecture documentation.
- Supporting technical design workshops.
- Advising delivery teams on integration approaches.
- Reviewing solution designs produced by implementation teams.
- Engaging senior programme stakeholders to communicate architectural decisions.

Ideal Candidate Profile
This opportunity would suit someone who has architected data solutions across large enterprise programmes where multiple business-critical applications need to exchange information reliably.
Experience within engineering, manufacturing, defence, aerospace or other complex asset-intensive industries would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
