Senior Data Engineer — Informatica | 2 Positions | £500/day inside IR35 | England, United Kingdom | 95% Remote
Two data engineering positions on a major UK government programme, and the working pattern is the part worth reading twice: 95% home working, with roughly one day a month at the Leeds Digital Hub.
THE WORK
This is a SAS to Informatica migration inside an enterprise data warehouse. You will be analysing existing SAS jobs, redesigning the ETL logic where it needs it, and rebuilding it properly in Informatica without losing data integrity or business outcomes along the way.
Alongside that, building and supporting enterprise-grade ETL workflows, and developing Oracle solutions — SQL, stored procedures and data models built to perform at scale.
ESSENTIAL
- Informatica PowerCenter, ideally 10.6
- Oracle — SQL, stored procedures, data modelling
- UNIX shell scripting
- SC clearance

ADVANTAGEOUS
- AWS and Spark — Amazon EMR, S3, Lambda. Strong PySpark, Python and SQL for large-scale batch processing
- Data engineering at scale in government or similarly complex domains, including performance tuning and data quality management
- CI/CD and DevOps — pipelines and IaC such as Terraform, automated testing, release governance
- Version control and collaboration — Git and GitLab, code review, branching strategies, trunk and PR workflows
- APIs and integration — building and consuming data services to move and expose data safely
- Agile working with Jira and Confluence, clear stakeholder communication and concise technical documentation
- Data warehousing and modelling — Redshift, dimensional modelling, dbt
- Basic Power BI familiarity, to partner with BI developers and validate end-to-end data flows
- AWS ecosystem depth — Athena, Redshift, EC2, CloudWatch, IAM — and event-driven patterns

CERTIFICATIONS
The client has listed AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (or higher) and Azure AI Fundamentals as mandatory.
THE DETAILS
- Rate: £500 per day, inside IR35
- Location: 95% home working. Approximately 5% on site at the Leeds Digital Hub
- Contract: Initial 6 months
- Start: Immediate
- Clearance: One seat SC cleared and immediate. One seat SC eligible
One of these two positions needs someone already SC cleared and available immediately. The second can go to someone SC eligible, so if you hold BPSS or are clearable you are still in scope.
An enterprise data warehouse migration is not six months of work. The word initial is doing real work here.
