Senior Data & AI Engineer | London - Hybrid | Up to £70,000 + Bonus
We’re partnering with a technology-led consultancy that combines data, software, and AI to deliver research and analysis for leading organisations across sustainability, investment, and other complex areas.
Alongside their consultancy offering, the business has built its own data platform, combining structured company data with AI-assisted analysis. They’re now looking for a Senior Data & AI Engineer to join their growing engineering team and play a key role across both platform development and live client delivery.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an engineer with around 4–5 years’ experience who wants to combine AI engineering, data engineering and client-facing technical delivery, while having genuine influence over the technical direction of a growing product.
The Role
As a Senior Data & AI Engineer, you’ll sit at the intersection of engineering and client delivery.
- Around half of your time will focus on building and strengthening the pipelines, data models and platform infrastructure behind the product.
- The other half will involve applying those capabilities to live client engagements, working alongside consultants to understand requirements and develop robust, reproducible solutions.
This is a hands-on role with no initial direct reports, but you'll have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and help establish engineering standards as the team grows.
What You’ll Be Doing
AI & Data Engineering
- Build and maintain AI-assisted assessment pipelines that extract and evaluate evidence from company disclosures
- Design and maintain robust quality assurance and citation processes around AI-generated outputs
- Own data models and ingestion pipelines for portfolio and issuer data
- Develop evaluation frameworks and benchmark pipeline performance
- Improve the reliability and consistency of probabilistic AI outputs so they are suitable for production use
- Work with large datasets and build pipelines that other teams and clients depend on

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
