About the Opportunity
An ambitious and fast-growing organisation is investing heavily in its technology, data and AI capabilities as part of a major transformation programme. With significant platform modernisation, cloud adoption and large-scale data initiatives underway, this is an opportunity to join at a pivotal stage and play a key role in shaping the future data landscape.
Working as part of a collaborative technology team, you'll take ownership of complex data engineering projects, helping to migrate, optimise and modernise critical data platforms while supporting the business's long-term growth plans. This is a highly visible role offering genuine influence, exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to mentor and develop less experienced team members.
This is a full-time, permanent position based predominantly onsite in Newcastle, working closely with colleagues across technology and the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and optimise data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Lead complex data migration and integration initiatives across multiple platforms.
- Cleanse, transform and improve data quality within enterprise systems.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Support cloud-based data engineering initiatives within an AWS environment.
- Contribute to the development of future AI and automation capabilities by ensuring data is accurate, accessible and fit for purpose.
- Help establish best practice around data governance, architecture and engineering standards.
- Mentor junior team members and support the ongoing development of internal capability.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to deliver business-critical projects.

Candidate Profile
We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer who combines strong technical capability with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Key requirements:
- Strong experience within Data Engineering or a similar data-focused role.
- Proven expertise in AWS-based environments.
- Advanced SQL and data manipulation skills.
- Experience designing and delivering ETL, data migration and integration solutions.
- Ability to work hands-on whilst engaging confidently with stakeholders across the business.
- Experience operating within complex technology transformation programmes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement.

Desirable experience:
- Exposure to AI, machine learning or data platform modernisation initiatives.
- Experience working within regulated or highly governed environments.
- Knowledge of Snowflake, Databricks or modern data platforms.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions or large-scale system integrations.
- Previous mentoring or leadership experience.
