Senior Data Engineer | Microsoft Fabric | Hybrid (One day every two weeks in London)
Salary: £70,000 - £90,000
I’m working with a fast-growing international technology scale-up that is investing heavily in its data platform and analytics capabilities.
They’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a small, high-impact Data & Analytics team and help build the next generation of their enterprise data platform.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on while also having the opportunity to influence data architecture, engineering standards and platform modernisation.
What you'll be doing:
- Design and build scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Dataflows Gen2, notebooks, Delta and T-SQL.
- Help lead the phased migration and modernisation of Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory workloads onto Microsoft Fabric.
- Integrate data from web and SaaS platforms across multiple business functions.
- Build reusable ingestion and transformation patterns, incremental loading, CDC and reconciliation processes.
- Own and evolve the Kimball dimensional model / gold layer, creating a strong foundation for analytics and reporting.
- Establish Git-based CI/CD, data quality checks, lineage, security and monitoring across Fabric and Azure.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders and analysts to translate business requirements into robust engineering solutions.

What they're looking for:
- 8+ years' hands-on Data Engineering / Data Warehousing experience, including senior or lead-level responsibility.
- Strong production experience with Microsoft Fabric, ideally with at least one end-to-end implementation, modernisation or migration you can talk through in detail.
- Deep knowledge of Kimball dimensional modelling, with practical experience designing gold-layer data models for enterprise reporting.
- Strong Azure experience, particularly:
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure SQL
- Azure DevOps
- Key Vault
- Experience integrating data from web and SaaS platforms.
- Advanced T-SQL.
- Strong Python and/or PySpark experience for scalable and testable data pipelines.
- Comfortable working within a small team and translating business questions into technical solutions.

Nice to have:
- Microsoft Fabric certifications such as DP-700 or DP-600, or relevant Azure certifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview.
- Fabric administration and capacity management.
- OneLake shortcuts and mirroring.
- Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, PowerShell or Azure/Fabric APIs.
- Experience building internal analytics/data platforms within a high-growth SaaS or technology business.
