About GoJoe
GoJoe is a global preventative health platform designed to help employers build healthier, higher performing workforces. Our award-winning platform combines gamification, social connection, rewards, and AI features to drive meaningful, measurable behaviour change at scale.
Founded in 2019, we now work with 400+ clients and have users in 150+ countries, and are trusted by global organisations including Diageo, McLaren Automotive, Heineken, Natwest, PwC, and many more. Behind the product is a platform that has to move activity, points, rewards, and social data reliably across a growing ecosystem of devices, partners, and services - at scale, in real time, and without getting it wrong.
The Opportunity
GoJoe generates data across a growing set of services - challenges, insights, wearables, business/rewards, and more - flowing through multiple operational databases, streaming pipelines, and a data warehouse that powers both internal analytics and client-facing reporting. We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to own and evolve that layer end to end: pipelines, warehouse modelling, and the data infrastructure that lets the business and our clients trust the numbers.
You'll bring strong data modelling instincts, comfort with both batch and streaming pipelines, and the judgement to make good architectural calls and see them through. This is a senior role with real technical ownership in a small, remote-first engineering team: you'll help decide how new data sources get modelled and mapped as GoJoe adds integrations and clients, and you'll be expected to lead projects, not just execute tickets.
What makes this different
- Real ownership: own data pipelines and warehouse modelling end to end, not just report-writing
- Infrastructure that evolves: change-data-capture and streaming pipelines powering real-time systems - genuine infrastructure ownership, not greenfield busywork
- Data that matters: your pipelines feed leaderboards, points, and rewards internally, and the reporting enterprise clients see directly
- Remote-first: flexible, async-friendly working within a distributed team
- Mission that matters: preventative health at scale, measurably improving people’s wellbeing

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The Role
As Senior Data Engineer, you'll design and build the pipelines and data models that move activity, challenge, rewards, and business data from our operational databases into a data warehouse that powers both internal analytics and client-facing reporting. You'll work with streaming data - change-data-capture pipelines feeding real-time systems - as well as batch ETL, and you'll help decide how new data sources get modelled and mapped as GoJoe adds new integrations and clients.
This is a hands-on senior role, working closely with backend engineering and product in a remote-first environment. You'll take on meaningful architecture decisions - data modelling, pipeline design, where complexity should live - and you'll be trusted to lead projects end to end: from design through delivery. This is a broad senior engineering role: while you'll go deep on specific systems, you'll also work across the platform and with other teams as business needs require.
What you’ll do
- Own data pipelines – design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines moving data from operational stores into the warehouse and downstream tools
- Build for scale and correctness – ensure pipelines handle growing volume and multiple concurrent clients without silently corrupting or duplicating data
- Work with streaming data – build and maintain change-data-capture/streaming pipelines that feed real-time systems
- Model the warehouse – design clean, well-documented data models that support both internal analytics and client-facing reporting
- Own data quality – build validation, monitoring, and alerting so data issues are caught before they reach a dashboard or a client
- Support the analytics stack – ensure events and properties across our analytics and customer-data tooling are well-defined and consistently tracked
- Shape data governance – contribute to how GoJoe catalogs, classifies, and retains data (personal, health, behavioural) in line with GDPR and client expectations
- Mentor and influence – bring senior judgement to code review, technical discussions, and planning
- Collaborate async – with a distributed product and engineering team; write clear docs and maintainable, well-tested code

Who You Are
You think in systems, not just queries. You're comfortable owning data end to end, from a messy operational database to a warehouse table someone at an enterprise client will actually look at. You know a wrong number in a report is a trust problem, not just a bug, and you build pipelines and models that make it hard to get that wrong. You lead by doing - proposing the right approach, pushing projects forward, and helping the team make good decisions. You communicate clearly, work well autonomously in a remote-first team, and use AI tools to work smarter and ship faster.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Seniority – extensive experience building and operating production data pipelines and warehouses at scale, with a track record of making data architecture decisions
- Pipelines & ETL/ELT – hands-on experience designing and building batch and/or streaming data pipelines, including change-data-capture and workflow orchestration
- Data modelling – strong ability to design clean, well-documented data warehouse models from messy operational sources
- SQL & data processing – excellent SQL and experience with a modern data processing language (Python preferred)
- Cloud & infrastructure – comfortable working with cloud-based data infrastructure and reasoning about cost, performance, and reliability
- Leadership & communication – able to make and defend technical decisions, lead a project end to end, and communicate clearly in a distributed, async-first team
Preferred
- CDC & replication – experience with change-data-capture or database replication tooling
- Analytics stack – experience with customer data platforms and product analytics tooling
- Domain – interest or background in health, fitness, or wellbeing products
- Data & compliance – familiarity with handling personal/health data and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or ISO 27001
- Scale – high-volume data ingestion, queues/streaming, and observability tooling
