Senior Data Engineer (Informatica PowerCentre) | Birmingham | 6-Month Contract | £500/day | Inside IR35

A major UK government Oracle ERP transformation programme needs Senior Data Engineers with production-grade Informatica PowerCentre experience. If your background is in ETL engineering — specifically Informatica PowerCentre and Oracle — and you hold current SC clearance, this is worth reading.

THE ROLE

Two Senior Data Engineer positions on a live data engineering workstream within a large-scale UK government Oracle ERP programme. The core work involves migrating SAS-based ETL processes to Informatica v10.6 within a Data Warehouse environment. Informatica is the primary tool — production ownership is expected from day one.

YOU WILL

  • Design, build, and optimise Informatica PowerCentre ETL mappings, sessions, and workflows within a live Data Warehouse environment
  • Lead or contribute to the migration of SAS-based ETL processes to Informatica — mapping SAS logic to PowerCentre equivalents and validating output equivalence
  • Develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts to automate job scheduling, file handling, and pipeline orchestration
  • Integrate Informatica pipelines with Oracle ERP source and target systems, ensuring data integrity across all layers
  • Collaborate with Data Architects and Oracle leads to validate transformation logic against source requirements
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures, data quality issues, and performance bottlenecks at programme scale
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation — mapping specifications, lineage documentation, release artefacts

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
