About Hush
Hush is an ambitious and distinctive fashion brand, with plans to double the business over the next few years. Founded 21 years ago, we are now established as one of the UK’s leading online fashion retailers. We employ around 150 employees across head office and retail, creating and selling a beautiful range of women’s clothing and accessories characterised by effortlessness, simplicity, and a laidback sense of style. Despite the challenges to the retail industry, Hush has continued to grow – and our company culture still reflects our entrepreneurial roots and relaxed aesthetic. We love hard-working and talented people with a can-do attitude and a passion for what they do.
As Hush continues to grow, we're investing heavily in our data capability and are looking for a commercially-minded Senior Data Engineer to help evolve our data platform, insight capabilities, and AI-driven ways of working.
About the Role
This is not a traditional engineering role. We're looking for someone who combines strong technical foundations with commercial curiosity – someone who enjoys understanding how a business works, partnering with stakeholders, asking the right questions, and turning data into meaningful action.
You may already be operating at Senior Data Engineer level, or you may be an experienced Data Engineer who is ready to take that next step. What matters most to us is that you've proved yourself, take ownership, have the right energy and attitude, and are hungry to make an impact.
You'll play a key role in developing our data platform, supporting strategic decision-making across the business, and helping us explore how AI can make our data function faster, smarter, and more effective.
What You'll Be Doing
-
Build & Evolve Our Data Platform
- Contribute to the architecture and development of our modern data platform, including data warehouse, modelling layer, and pipelines.
- Develop and maintain high-quality data models and pipelines.
- Help establish best practices across data modelling, testing, governance, and documentation.
- Ensure our data platform remains secure, scalable, and high-performing.
- Take ownership of projects and see them through from idea to delivery.
-
Partner with the Business
- Work closely with Commercial, Merchandising, Marketing, and Operations teams to understand priorities and identify opportunities where data can drive better decisions.
- Translate business challenges into practical data solutions.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and communicate insights clearly.
- Challenge assumptions and help the business understand what the data is really telling us.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
