Senior Data Engineer – Azure / SQL / Python

Hampshire – Hybrid

Permanent | Full-time

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a growing data and analytics function, taking technical ownership of complex data pipelines and platform components from initial design through to production support.

This is a hands-on senior individual contributor position with no line management responsibilities, ideally suited to an experienced Data Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, taking ownership of delivery and helping improve engineering standards and data platforms.

You will design, build and maintain scalable data solutions across Azure, SQL and Python, working on production data pipelines, data warehousing, modelling, platform performance and data quality. You will also contribute to technical design decisions and the continued evolution of the wider data platform.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We are looking for strong experience across:

  • Microsoft Azure data technologies
  • Advanced SQL, including optimisation and performance tuning
  • Python for data pipelines, automation and integrations
  • Designing and supporting production data pipelines and data warehouses
  • Data modelling and scalable data architecture
  • Data quality, validation, monitoring and observability
  • Git, code reviews, automated testing and CI/CD
  • Troubleshooting complex data and production issues
  • Working independently and taking ownership of technical delivery

You should be comfortable working with inconsistent upstream data, identifying root causes and implementing practical solutions to improve data integrity, reliability and quality. Experience with automated validation approaches using SQL/Python or technologies such as Great Expectations or dbt tests would be particularly relevant.
