Senior Consultant Data Engineer (Snowflake or Databricks)
London | Flexible, hybrid working model | Outside IR35 | 12 month engagement
We're looking for a Senior Consultant Data Engineer to join a fast-growing consultancy delivering complex data transformation programmes for enterprise clients. This role is ideal for an experienced data engineering professional who combines strong technical expertise with client-facing consulting skills.
You'll work with organisations looking to modernise their data platforms, helping them move beyond legacy solutions and implement scalable, cloud-native architectures. Success in this role requires deep expertise in specialist technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, and dbt, alongside the ability to advise stakeholders, shape technical solutions, and lead delivery engagements.
You'll join a consultancy that prides itself on solving difficult data challenges, delivering measurable outcomes, and building long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities
- Design and deliver modern data platforms and data products for clients
- Lead data engineering workstreams across multiple consulting engagements
- Build scalable solutions using Snowflake, Databricks, dbt and cloud-native technologies
- Translate business requirements into robust technical architectures
- Provide technical leadership and best practice guidance to client teams
- Optimise performance, scalability, reliability, and cost across data platforms
- Contribute to pre-sales, solution design, and technical discovery activities
- Mentor consultants and help develop the consultancy's engineering capability
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Data Engineer, Lead Data Engineer, or Data Engineering Consultant
- Strong hands-on expertise with Snowflake, Databricks, or dbt, with deep specialism in at least one
- Excellent SQL and Python engineering skills
- Experience designing and delivering modern cloud data platforms within AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, CI/CD, testing, and infrastructure-as-code
- Proven ability to engage with stakeholders and operate in client-facing environments
- Experience leading technical delivery and influencing architecture decisions

Desirable experience
- SnowPro, Databricks, or cloud platform certifications
- Experience with Spark, Kafka, Airflow, or data orchestration technologies
- Background working within a technology consultancy or professional services environment
- Experience contributing to bids, proposals, or pre-sales engagements
