Help build the data foundations behind Belong’s future
Belong is investing in its digital and data capabilities, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to help shape what comes next.
This is a newly important role within our Central Services IT team. You will design, build and maintain the modern data infrastructure that supports reporting, analytics, operational decision-making and future AI use cases across Belong.
Working closely with colleagues across IT, digital and operational services, you will bring together data from multiple systems and turn it into secure, reliable and accessible information.
You will also play a key part in reducing our reliance on legacy tools and creating a connected data environment that supports better decisions across the organisation.
What will you be doing?
- Design, build and maintain data pipelines, storage and integration layers.
- Develop modern data warehouse and data lake solutions.
- Integrate data from internal and external systems using APIs and other integration methods.
- Transform raw data into structured and trusted datasets.
- Design data models, schemas and structures that support scalability and performance.
- Improve data quality by cleaning, transforming and standardising information.
- Automate data processes and optimise queries, pipelines and data processing.
- Support the development of reporting and dashboards using tools such as Power BI.
- Help move Belong away from Access and Excel-based legacy processes.
- Maintain effective data security, access controls and governance.
- Document data models, pipelines and processes clearly.
- Support data migration and integration activity during system implementations.
- Lay the foundations for predictive analytics and future AI use cases.
- Contribute to Belong’s wider digital and data strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
