Senior Data Engineer - London - Energy
Role Summary
Aubay UK is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and build enterprise-scale data foundations and end-to-end data solutions. This Contract Inside IR35 opportunity (6 months rolling) focuses on enabling data-driven decision making through modern cloud data platforms, data engineering best practices, and scalable analytics capabilities. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert, mentor engineers, and help translate data strategy into impactful technology solutions.
Required Skills and Experience:
- AWS, Azure and/or SAP expertise (advanced level).
- Strong experience with ELT design and implementation.
- Expert knowledge of data modelling concepts and practices.
- Data integration, ingestion, manipulation and processing expertise.
- Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
- Hands-on experience with Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Database, Synapse Analytics and Stream Analytics.
- Experience with AWS services such as Glue, Airflow, Kinesis and Redshift.
- Experience using SonarQube, PyTest and engineering best practices.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience managing projects or leading a Scrum team.
- Experience working with BPC and Planning solutions.
- Exposure to external technical ecosystems and third-party partners.
- Experience creating and maintaining documentation using MKDocs.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable data foundations and end-to-end data solutions.
- Translate data strategy and business vision into technical delivery outcomes.
- Act as a subject matter expert for data analysis, architecture and design.
- Support change, incident and problem management activities.
- Present findings, recommendations and progress updates to stakeholders.
- Drive implementation efficiency, delivery quality and value realisation.
- Support data platform adoption and data-driven ways of working.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical community initiatives such as Centres of Excellence and Communities of Practice.
