I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For
You’ll have strong experience working with modern cloud data platforms, ideally using BigQuery or Snowflake, alongside Dataform or dbt.
You’ll be comfortable working across the full data lifecycle, from bringing data into the platform and building reliable transformation pipelines through to producing trusted datasets, reporting and dashboards for the wider business.
The role will suit someone who has previously taken real ownership of a data platform or significant parts of one, and is comfortable working directly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience with GCP, BigQuery, Dataform, Airbyte, Fivetran or Metabase would be useful, but we’re more interested in the right overall experience than an exact technology match.
Experience working in a start-up, scale-up or smaller data team would also be useful, as this is a hands-on role with a high level of autonomy.
