Senior Data Engineer | Global Streaming Technology
📍 Osterley, London (2 days onsite) 💰 £500/day Inside IR35 📅 6-month initial contract ⚡ Immediate / ASAP start
I’m currently supporting a major global streaming and media technology organisation on a new Senior Data Engineer contract within their Data Platform function. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the engineering teams behind streaming products used by tens of millions of customers globally.
What they’re looking for:
This is not a role for someone who wants to be a small part of the process. They need a contractor who can hit the ground running, own delivery, communicate clearly, and bring strong real-world experience.
Essential skills:
- Strong SQL
- Proven ETL pipeline experience
- Data warehousing experience
- Dimensional / data modelling
- DBT
- Experience with BigQuery (preferred) or Snowflake
- Exposure to AWS and/or GCP
- Strong stakeholder communication skills

- DataOps / CI/CD exposure
- Iceberg / lakehouse knowledge
- AI tooling exposure for automation and engineering productivity
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and supporting scalable data models and distributed ETL pipelines
- Working with large-scale streaming and platform datasets
- Building and optimising transformations in BigQuery, SQL and DBT
- Collaborating with multiple engineering and business teams
- Improving DataOps and platform best practices
- Supporting the onboarding of new data feeds and ensuring alignment with governance and architecture standards
- Contributing to automation initiatives, including practical use of AI tools within data workflows

This role is highly scenario and delivery focused. In interviews, the team will want to understand:
- What you’ve built over the last 2 years
- What you personally owned
- How you approached ETL, warehousing and modelling challenges
- Your experience with BigQuery (ideal) / Snowflake / DBT
- How you’ve improved engineering practices or automation
Interview process
- Stage 1: 30-minute conversation with the Head of Data and a Senior Data Engineer
- Stage 2: Technical / scenario-based discussion
