Data Engineer | 4-Month Contract | London, UK | Hybrid
Recruiters is partnering with a leading global technology organisation to hire an experienced Data Engineer to join its London-based engineering team.
This is an opportunity to contribute to large-scale data engineering initiatives, developing and maintaining production data pipelines and datasets that support widely used digital products.
Working alongside an established team of Data Engineers and Analysts, you will focus on delivering defined technical projects while ensuring data quality, performance, and reliability.
The Role
- Build, test, and maintain batch ETL pipelines for assigned datasets.
- Develop and optimise SQL queries across large-scale datasets, focusing on performance and data accuracy.
- Use Python for data transformation and pipeline orchestration.
- Implement changes to existing pipelines and tables, including backfills and schema updates.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues identified through monitoring or stakeholder reporting.
- Develop and maintain data quality checks, automated tests, and technical documentation.
- Contribute to exploratory analysis and prototypes where required.
- Participate in code reviews and follow established Git, deployment, and change management practices.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts, and Engineering stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience building and maintaining production data pipelines.
- Strong SQL skills, including performance tuning across large datasets.
- Hands-on Python experience for data transformation and pipeline orchestration.
- Experience with distributed query engines such as Presto, Spark, Hive, or similar.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or equivalent.
- Comfortable working with Git and code review-based development workflows.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an established engineering team.
Desirable Experience
- Data modelling for analytics, including dimensional or wide-table patterns.
- Dashboard development or experience with BI tools.
- Data quality frameworks and pipeline observability.

Contract Details
- Location: London, UK (Hybrid)
- Duration: 4 Months
- Start: ASAP
- Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
