Job Title: Senior Data Engineer
π Engagement: Full Time, Permanent
π Location: London
β Working hours: 0845 - 1730
π° Salary: Up to Β£80,000
About the role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will shape and deliver high-quality Data & AI solutions, working on projects end-to-end and acting as a recognised subject matter expert that others rely on for specialist guidance.
You will advise in design discussions, solve complex technical problems, develop practical approaches, and anticipate issues using strong Azure and Microsoft Fabric expertise to support best-practice implementation.
You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth delivery, mentor and guide others, and help set good practice through coaching, knowledge sharing, and practical technical support.
As the team grows, there may be opportunities to take on formal line management responsibilities.
What you'll do
- Deliver on projects from a technical and customer-facing perspective to ensure high-quality and timely delivery
- Work on projects using agreed best practices, delivering robust solutions
- Implement data governance and security best practices
- Contribute to design workshops with stakeholders and business leaders, providing specialist guidance and advising on practical technical solutions
- Apply strong data modelling, ETL, and analytics expertise to solve complex problems and develop effective delivery approaches
- Bring deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, including compute, storage, networking, and security
- Design, implement, and manage solutions on Microsoft Azure, with a focus on Microsoft Fabric or Databricks
- Work within cross-functional teams to anticipate issues, support independent decisions on complex problems, and deliver solutions that drive customer value
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and peers, sharing knowledge and helping set good practice within delivery teams
- Build understanding and exposure to implementation of AI agents within Azure

What you'll bring
- Recognised as a subject matter expert in data engineering delivery, with the ability to provide specialist guidance to colleagues and stakeholders
- Able to make independent decisions on complex technical problems, developing practical approaches that balance quality, risk, and customer value
- Strong understanding of data governance and security best practices, with the ability to anticipate issues and apply appropriate controls
- Confident contributing to design workshops, guiding others through technical options, and recommending suitable solutions
- Strong applied expertise in data modelling, ETL processes, and analytics concepts, including solving complex delivery and implementation challenges
- Bring deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, including compute, storage, networking, and security
- Design, implement, and manage solutions on Microsoft Azure, with a focus on Microsoft Fabric or Databricks
- Work within cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that drive customer value
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers and peers, promoting knowledge sharing and good practice within the team
- Build understanding and exposure to implementation of AI agents within Azure
