Data Engineer – Wiltshire – Remote– Contract 37.5 hours per week – £555 - £595 per day Inside IR35 – SC Clearance

Our client is looking for a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions. You'll need strong AWS experience, think S3, Glue, RDS,alongside Apache Airflow, Tableau and solid SQL skills across PostgreSQL and SQL Server. SC Clearance is required for this role.

Working Patterns and location

  • Remote with occasional travel to site in Wiltshire as required.

The Key Responsibilities of a Data Engineer

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and ingestion processes.
  • Develop and optimise data solutions using AWS services and cloud-native technologies.
  • Integrate structured and semi-structured data sources, including JSON-based datasets.
  • Develop and maintain data models within PostgreSQL and SQL Server environments.
  • Configure and support workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow.
  • Support analytics and reporting requirements through robust Tableau dashboard development.
  • Troubleshoot, optimise and enhance existing data platforms and processes.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement and sprint planning.

Key Skills required for a Data Engineer

  • Strong hands-on experience in data engineering, including ETL/ELT pipeline development.
  • AWS platform experience across S3, Glue and RDS PostgreSQL.
  • Experience configuring and supporting Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
  • Tableau development experience including dashboard creation and maintenance.
  • SQL development skills across both PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
  • Experience working with JSON and semi-structured data formats.
  • Data warehouse design and implementation experience.
  • Experience using JupyterHub and/or RStudio for analytics and data exploration.

Additional Skills (not essential)

  • Data architecture and solution design experience.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tooling.
  • Python or R development skills.
  • Experience working within large enterprise analytics environments.

Please note that the client has determined that the off-payroll working rules will apply to this assignment and therefore this contract will be run through an Umbrella Company. Income tax and primary national insurance contributions will be deducted at source from any payments made to the intermediary.
