Are you an experienced Senior Data Engineer looking to take the next step into Data Architecture?

Lynx Recruitment is working with an established technology consultancy delivering complex data transformation programmes for enterprise clients. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing modern data platforms and wants to develop their architecture expertise while remaining hands-on with technology.

You'll work alongside experienced architects, helping shape data strategies, modernise cloud data platforms, and deliver scalable solutions for complex business challenges. You will leverage your previous experience working with financial services organisations and over time, you'll take ownership of solution design and progress into a Data Architect position.

The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, building and optimising modern data platforms while contributing to architectural decisions across client engagements.

You'll work with both technical and business stakeholders, helping define data solutions that are scalable, secure and aligned with long-term business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and optimise modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • Develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions.
  • Build and maintain data lakes, lakehouses and enterprise data warehouses.
  • Collaborate with architects to define technical solutions and future-state data platforms.
  • Contribute to data modelling and architecture design.
  • Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Implement best practices around data quality, governance and security.
  • Work closely with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical best practices.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong commercial experience as a Senior Data Engineer.
  • Experience designing and delivering modern cloud data solutions.
  • Advanced SQL skills and strong experience manipulating large datasets.
  • Experience with one or more cloud platforms:
    • Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks or similar.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling principles.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security and data quality frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A genuine interest in progressing into Data Architecture.
  • IT/Technology-related university degree (minimum 2.1)
