Senior Data Engineer (SAP/ S/4HANA Migration)
Contract | Hybrid (Leeds – 1-2 days per month) | Outside IR35/Day Rate DOE
A major UK organisation is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a large-scale enterprise transformation programme. This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex data migration and integration solutions into a modern ERP landscape.
You'll be responsible for designing and building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, consolidating data from multiple legacy systems, and ensuring high-quality, auditable data migrations.
What you'll be doing
- Design and develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines for complex migration programmes
- Integrate and harmonise data from multiple source systems into a unified target model
- Build automated reconciliation, validation and exception-handling processes
- Deliver data integrations using APIs, batch processing and messaging technologies
- Support migration rehearsals, cutover activities and post-migration validation
- Work closely with Data Architects, Analysts and business stakeholders
- Develop reusable engineering frameworks and maintain high documentation standards

We're looking for
- Extensive Data Engineering experience on enterprise-scale migration programmes
- Strong experience migrating data from multiple heterogeneous source systems
- Advanced SQL and Python (or another programming language)
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms
- Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation and governance
- Experience designing scalable, repeatable ETL processes
- Knowledge of DevOps/CI-CD practices is beneficial

Nice to have
- SAP S/4HANA migration experience
- SAP Data Services, SAP BW or SAP MDG
- Utilities or Energy sector experience
- Master Data Management (MDM)
- Power BI or SAP Analytics Cloud
Location
Hybrid role with travel to Leeds 1-2 times per month.
