Senior Data Engineer (Python) – AI Platform
Location: London – Fully Remote
Salary: £90,000 – £110,000 Base + Equity
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join an early-stage, venture-backed AI company building an intelligent operating platform for senior finance teams. Their technology brings together complex business and financial data, enabling AI agents to identify trends, surface opportunities and support faster strategic decision-making.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with ownership of the Python data pipelines, integrations and underlying data models that power the platform. You’ll help to ensure AI systems can retrieve, interpret and reason accurately across large volumes of sensitive, multi-entity data.
You’ll report directly to the CTO and join a small, collaborative engineering team where you’ll own technical problems from initial design through to production. The position will initially be heavily focused as an individual contributor, with the opportunity to gradually build and mentor a growing data team, and develop into a technical leadership role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
