🚀 Senior Data Engineer | Azure / Microsoft Fabric

📍 Location: Camden, London (4 days per week onsite)

💰 Salary: £85,000 - £95,000 + discretionary stretch bonus of up to 35%

I'm working with an established, commercially successful business that's investing in a significant modernisation of its data platform, moving from Azure Synapse to Microsoft Fabric.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on Senior Data Engineer who wants to take genuine ownership of a data platform, influence its future direction and play a key role in building a more scalable, governed and modern data environment.

The business already has a well-established Azure data estate, so this isn't about starting from scratch. The challenge is to evolve what's there, introduce stronger engineering practices and help deliver a successful migration to Microsoft Fabric without disrupting existing business-critical data services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Taking ownership of existing Azure data pipelines and supporting the migration from Synapse to Microsoft Fabric.
  • Working closely with an incoming Platform Architect to establish engineering best practices, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and robust development environments.
  • Improving data governance, quality, monitoring and the overall reliability of the platform.
  • Balancing ongoing data engineering and operational responsibilities with a major platform transformation.
  • Helping shape the technical direction of the data platform, with opportunities to support and mentor additional engineers as the team grows.

What I'm looking for:

  • Strong hands-on data engineering experience across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, particularly Azure Synapse, ADF and SQL.
  • Commercial exposure to Microsoft Fabric. You don't need to have spent years working exclusively with it.
  • Experience delivering data platform migrations, ideally including parallel running, testing and validation.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Git and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep).
  • A collaborative, pragmatic engineer who enjoys solving problems, taking ownership and working closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
