Senior Data Engineer – 6 Months Contract - Edinburgh

Change Digital are supporting our client looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and support robust data pipelines and data products that enable trusted data to be delivered across a modern data platform. This hands-on role combines technical delivery with leadership, ensuring data solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain data pipelines and data products.
  • Deliver high-quality solutions using modern CI/CD practices and engineering standards.
  • Lead complex data integration, migration, and transformation initiatives.
  • Provide technical ownership and support for critical data products.
  • Implement automated testing, monitoring, and data quality controls.
  • Collaborate with analysts, data owners, and technical teams to translate requirements into solutions.
  • Mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement across data engineering practices.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in data engineering, data integration, and enterprise data solutions.
  • Expertise with SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake.
  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of APIs, ETL/ELT processes, and cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS).
  • Experience with CI/CD, version control, and deployment tooling.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for engineering excellence, automation, and continuous improvement.
