Responsible for:
This is a senior, hands-on data governance role responsible for the day-to-day operation, development, and continuous improvement of Bell Integration’s Microsoft Purview environment. Working closely with the Head of Data and Analytics, the role will drive pragmatic data governance across the organisation, embed best practice, and ensure data is trusted, discoverable, and treated as a strategic asset. The role combines hands-on technical delivery with strong stakeholder engagement and governance leadership.
Based at:
Remote with travel to Portsmouth and London as required (circa once per month). At least once a month in London for team face to face.
Scope:
The role covers enterprise-wide data governance, metadata management, and data quality initiatives. It spans multiple data platforms, including Microsoft Fabric, and works across business and technical teams to improve governance maturity, accountability, and outcomes.
Purpose
As a Senior Data Governance Lead, you will work closely with the Data and Analytics Team, and other senior stakeholders across the business to ensure data governance is understood, consistently applied, and embedded into day-to-day decision-making.

Role
- Own and operate the Microsoft Purview environment, including cataloguing, scanning, classifications, glossaries, and lineage.
- Provide hands-on configuration, troubleshooting, and optimisation of Purview features and data sources.
- Work closely with engineering teams using Microsoft Fabric to ensure governance is embedded within ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Define, implement, and continuously improve data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
- Act as a trusted advisor on data governance, data quality, and metadata management across the organisation.
- Engage with senior stakeholders to agree data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models.
- Support and guide data producers and consumers to improve data quality, usability, and compliance.
- Translate governance principles into practical, adoptable processes and tooling.
- Contribute to data strategy initiatives in partnership with the Head of Data and Analytics.
- Support audits, risk assessments, and regulatory obligations relating to data governance.
Person
Essential
- 5+ years' proven, hands-on experience implementing and operating data governance capabilities.
- 3+ years' experience of using Microsoft Purview, including scanning, classification, lineage, and glossaries.
- Experience working with modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, including ETL/ELT concepts.
- Deep understanding of data governance principles, data quality, metadata management, and data ownership.
- Experience working closely with senior stakeholders to drive organisational change.
- Ability to balance strategic governance objectives with practical, delivery-focused execution.
- Credible and confident when engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Strong advocate for the value of good data governance.

Desirable
- Experience working with modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, including ETL/ELT concepts.
- Experience integrating data governance into CI/CD and data engineering workflows.
- Knowledge of information security, privacy, and regulatory considerations (e.g. GDPR).
- Experience operating within complex, multi-system data landscapes.
- Relevant Microsoft or data governance certifications.
