Senior Data Manager – Airfinity
Airfinity is looking for an experienced Senior Data Manager to join our data team, taking ownership of key epidemiological datasets and helping drive the quality, development and delivery of our data.
This is a hands-on senior position combining data management, epidemiological data expertise, technical capability, team leadership and stakeholder engagement.
What you'll be doing
- Take ownership of specific epidemiological data areas, ensuring data is accurate, complete and maintained to high standards.
- Lead and prioritise data collection, annotation, validation and development activities.
- Develop a deep understanding of Airfinity's datasets and identify opportunities to expand and improve our data.
- Apply your understanding of data structures and relational databases to support the development and optimisation of datasets.
- Support and mentor Data Managers and Junior Data Managers, helping prioritise workloads and deliver team objectives.
- Lead data-team delivery across cross-functional projects, working closely with Research, Analytics, Engineering and other colleagues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements, priorities and deliverables.
- Work with Engineering to identify and resolve database performance issues and bottlenecks.
- Provide clear commentary and insight on data changes, trends and updates.
- Produce slides and contribute to data deep dives with minimal supervision.
- Act as a subject-matter expert for your areas, including answering data and epidemiology questions on client calls.
- Support the management and quality assurance of work delivered by offshore/external data resources.
- Proactively identify data quality issues, risks and opportunities and drive solutions through to completion.

We're looking for someone with:
- Strong experience managing complex datasets, ideally within epidemiology, infectious diseases, healthcare, life sciences or pharmaceutical data.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Demonstrable experience managing and improving complex datasets.
- Experience working with epidemiological, healthcare or life-science data.
- Strong data quality and validation skills with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to take ownership of projects and prioritise work across a team.
- Experience supporting, mentoring or managing more junior colleagues.
- Confidence working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex data clearly.
- Exposure to Python or other data tools would be advantageous.

This is a remote working role based in the UK.
