I'm working with one of the UK’s largest and most recognisable consumer businesses to appoint a Senior Data Protection Manager into its central Data Protection function.

This is a senior role at the heart of a large, complex, and increasingly data-driven organisation, that has very strong privacy foundations in place.

Rather than owning privacy within one particular business area, you’ll take a Group-wide view – helping to ensure that data protection risk is understood, managed, and reported consistently across the organisation.

A key part of that will be bringing together a federated privacy model. You’ll work closely with specialist Data Protection Analysts embedded across the business, acting as the central point that joins the dots: creating consistency, coordinating Group-wide activity, and giving senior stakeholders a clear picture of the organisation’s privacy risk and compliance position.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The environment itself is evolving quickly. The organisation is investing heavily in digital transformation, data and AI, making this an opportunity to help shape how a major consumer business uses personal data responsibly while still enabling innovation.

You’ll sit within the central regulatory function, working closely with the DPO and with significant exposure across Legal, Risk, Internal Audit, Information Security, and Data. Your remit will span the broader privacy compliance framework, with particular emphasis on risk management, governance, monitoring and assurance, and meaningful reporting to senior leadership.

We’re looking for someone with significant data protection experience and strong knowledge of UK privacy law, but this role requires more than technical expertise. You’ll need to be comfortable operating across a complex organisation, influencing people you don't directly manage, and turning privacy risk into practical priorities for the business.

For someone who has built strong privacy expertise and now wants a role with genuine Group-wide reach, senior stakeholder exposure, and the opportunity to influence how a major organisation approaches privacy, data, and AI, this is a particularly interesting next step.

This role is 3 days per week in-office in London.
