Senior Data Scientist
£70,000–£80,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Bonus
London (Hybrid – 2x Days a Week in Office)

This leading UK financial services business has built one of the most mature data science capabilities in the industry, using advanced analytics and machine learning to drive commercial decision-making across millions of customers. With significant investment in technology, data, and AI, the business continues to grow rapidly and is looking to expand its Alternative Pricing Product team with a Senior Data Scientist. You'll join a highly collaborative environment where experimentation is encouraged and innovative modelling techniques are actively deployed into production!

The Role
Reporting into the Head of Pricing, you'll join a specialist team responsible for developing next-generation pricing models that challenge conventional approaches. Working across large and complex datasets, you'll build predictive machine learning models using alternative data sources to improve customer pricing and risk selection.
Projects include:
- Building innovative predictive machine learning models
- Developing pricing and customer selection models
- Exploring alternative data sources to improve pricing accuracy
- Geospatial and footprint modelling
- Residual and claims modelling
- Working with messy, high-volume datasets to uncover commercial insights
- Deploying models using Azure Machine Learning
- Mentoring junior team members and helping shape best practice across the team

Your Skills & Experience
- Experience building machine learning models
- Strong Python skills
- Experience developing predictive models within commercial environments
- Experience working with large, complex datasets
- Experience with cloud-based ML platforms (Azure ML preferred)
- The ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience mentoring or supporting more junior data scientists is advantageous
Experience within insurance or financial services would be beneficial, although candidates from other highly analytical industries are also encouraged to apply.
