Are you an experienced hands-on Senior Data Scientist, who is looking to work in a fast-paced, global, market-leading company?
Here at Innovative Technology, we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our site-based Biometrics team at our global head office in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
The Senior Data Scientist role overview:
To take ownership of complex data science projects from research and experimentation through to validation, optimisation, and production, working closely with technical and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate, robust, fair, and commercially viable solutions.
Responsibilities of our Senior Data Scientist:
- Develop, train, and deploy machine learning and computer vision models for biometric applications
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities for product improvement
- Design experiments and analyse model performance, accuracy, robustness, and fairness
- Work with large datasets, including data preparation, annotation, quality control, and governance
- Optimise models for real-world and edge-device deployment, balancing performance, speed, and resource requirements
- Investigate technical and product issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to data scientists, graduates, and interns
- Contribute to technical strategy, project planning, and the continuous improvement of our data science practices
- Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong Python and PyTorch skills
- Experience optimising machine learning models for embedded or edge deployment
- Experience working with large image datasets and model evaluation
- Experience taking machine learning solutions from research through to production
- Knowledge of Git, Linux, and collaborative software development
- An understanding of responsible biometric development, including privacy, security, and fairness
- Strong communication skills and experience mentoring or providing technical direction
