Senior Data Scientist
Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation and growth drive everything we do. Our Data Science organisation sits at the heart of Deliveroo powering decision-making across our 3 sided marketplace.
We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our London team (working hybrid, 3 days in the office). In this role, you’ll drive high-quality decision-making to maximise impact.
We’re hiring multiple Senior Data Scientists across different areas of the business. Rather than hiring for one fixed team, we use the interview process to understand your strengths, interests and development areas, and then align you to the right scope, remit and team.
About Our Data Science Organisation
We have an outstanding Data Science organisation, with a mission to drive the highest quality decision-making across our marketplace. We work throughout the company, in product, operations, and platform teams and are uniquely placed to use data to help make better decisions and improve data literacy across Deliveroo. We are great communicators, and move fast to serve our customers a little better every day.
Our community is highly active, with guest lectures, study groups, mentorship programmes and a robust technical review process. Data Scientists can progress equally as IC leads or managers.
Our data scientists come from all kinds of backgrounds but have excellence in common. Many are formally trained in data science, many are not.
What You’ll Be Doing
Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:
- Proactive Impact Delivery: You will independently identify, define, and deliver impactful work that aligns with business goals and metrics, operating with minimal guidance to provide high value to your team and the broader organisation. You will own delivery end-to-end, ensuring the delivery of fast, high-quality, solutions that meet business needs.
- Navigating Ambiguity and Complexity: You will excel at deconstructing broad, ambiguous problem spaces into structured technical roadmaps, managing projects that require both deep team-specific rigour and an understanding of how they intersect with adjacent systems.
- Strategic Technical Execution: Drive strategic decision-making by selecting the most effective tool or method for the task, maintaining a focus on high-quality execution and measurable results. You will act as a well-trusted strategic partner to stakeholders, using analytics, effective communication and domain expertise to influence roadmaps.
- Experimentation and measurement: Design and lead measurement strategies that drive product direction, ranging from simple A/B tests to complex experimental designs. You will be equally capable of applying alternative causal inference techniques when standard trials aren't feasible, ensuring the business moves based on data driven insights.
- Organisational Alignment: Actively contribute to the broader Analytics community, driving L+D initiatives and cross-functional collaboration. You will ensure we are delivering the "right" things org-wide by aligning technical work with overarching business strategy and shared best practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
