Senior Database Engineer (PostgreSQL)
Fintech | UK, Remote
Scalers are partnering with a FinTech company in the UK who are a developer centric organisation building cutting edge software in the Finance space. We are looking for a Database Engineer (PostgreSQL) to join our FinTech partners cloud data team. You will manage databases across multiple data centres and cloud environments, automating routine tasks like patching and configuration management to free up time for more strategic engineering related initiatives.
Day to Day:
- Support the development lifecycle through feasibility, design, and delivery to ensure the solutions we provide are automated, robust, scalable, maintainable, and secure.
- Promote and collaborate in the creation of solutions to drive automation, environment consistency, continuous delivery with an "everything as code" mentality.
- Lead on complex database tasks such as Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), very large table modifications, advanced query tuning, and data-migrations.

What We’re Looking For From You:
- Working experience working as a Database Engineer supporting PostgreSQL and/or MySQL in a Production Environment.
- Public cloud experience using GCP.
- Experience using Terraform.
- A DevOps / automation first mindset, with experience using deployments with Ansible (or similar automation tool for config/admin).
- Practical experience of the following using scripting languages or programming frameworks (Python, Bash, Java, etc).
- System administration and tuning of Linux-based servers.
- Strong working knowledge and experience using code versioning tools like Git.
