Your Responsibilities
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Senior Defined Contribution (DC) Pension Consultant to join our Pension & Workplace Savings Team to provide expert advice and strategic support to employers managing UK-based DC pension schemes.
The ideal candidate will deliver tailored consultancy on scheme design, governance, member engagement, compliance, provider selection, with the goal of helping our clients to achieve optimal retirement outcomes for their pension scheme members while meeting regulatory obligations.
We are looking for someone who can play a key role in the continued development and growth of our Pensions and Workplace Savings Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise corporate clients on all aspects of DC pension arrangements, including master trust-based and contract-based schemes
- Assist with scheme governance, compliance, and regulatory reporting
- Conduct provider reviews and market benchmarking exercises
- Support scheme design, including auto-enrolment solutions, contribution design and structures, and flexible retirement options
- Prepare and deliver client reports, governance papers, and governance committee training
- Develop and implement member engagement and communication strategies (e.g. financial wellbeing, retirement planning tools)
- Liaise with third-party providers, investment managers, and internal teams
- Keep clients informed of legislative and regulatory developments affecting DC pensions
- Contribute to business development activities, proposals, and thought leadership within the DC space

Qualifications
Qualifications, Experience and Desirable Skills:
- Solid understanding of the UK DC pensions landscape, legislation, and regulatory requirements
- Relevant professional qualifications preferred (e.g., APMI, DipPMI, or working towards)
- Extensive experience in a DC consulting or DC-focused pensions role
- Experience with both contract- and master trust-based DC schemes
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable in delivering and promoting our Lockton Pension & Workplace Savings services
- Take responsibility for proactive revenue generation of existing clients and extending the range of pension services we provide to clients with other business lines within Lockton
- Ability to manage your own portfolio of clients, ensuring you are taking a pro-active approach and servicing our clients at the highest level
- Competence in interpreting and presenting investment and performance data, though not expected to provide investment advice to clients
- Knowledge of financial wellbeing and digital member engagement platforms
- Awareness of FCA requirements where relevant (e.g. for group personal pensions)
- Experience with ESG considerations and sustainable investment strategy in DC schemes
- Familiarity with master trust arrangements and governance models
