Senior Delivery Manager – Software Engineering

Location: Leeds (Hybrid)
Package: Up to £90k + Company Benefits

A leading professional services firm is investing significantly in its digital and technology capability, bringing previously separate development teams together into a central engineering function. As part of this transformation, they are looking for a Senior Delivery Manager to play a key role in building high-performing engineering teams and ensuring the successful delivery of software.

The role has two equally important areas of responsibility:

People & Engineering Team Leadership

  • Managing and coaching a team of software engineers, with responsibility for their performance, development, and progression.
  • Working closely with technical leadership to create an environment where engineers can develop their skills, perform at their best, and deliver effectively.
  • Note: You're not reviewing code or acting as a technical assessor.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Software Delivery Leadership

  • Taking ownership of software delivery across engineering teams.
  • Managing capacity and resources, resolving delivery blockers, managing risks and dependencies.
  • Working closely with Product Managers and Tech Leads to ensure teams have the people, skills, and support needed to deliver.

This is not a Service Delivery role, nor is it a hands-on technical Engineering Manager position. It sits at the intersection of people leadership, engineering, and software delivery.

The Opportunity

The wider engineering function is evolving, giving the successful candidate an opportunity to influence how software engineering operates within a major professional services organization. They will help shape engineering culture, agile ways of working, team structures, resource deployment, and career development as the organization moves towards a more modern, product-led engineering model.

The environment will suit someone who enjoys building and improving rather than simply maintaining established processes.

We're looking for:

  • Proven experience directly managing and developing software engineers.
  • Strong software or digital delivery management experience.
  • Experience coaching development teams through software delivery.
  • A track record of identifying and removing significant delivery blockers.
  • Experience managing engineering capacity, resources, and competing priorities.
  • Strong practical knowledge of agile and lean software delivery.
  • Experience working alongside Product Managers and technical/engineering leads.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience operating within a matrix organization or across multiple engineering teams.

A software engineering or technical background would be useful, but is not essential. The priority is finding someone who combines strong people leadership with a proven ability to make software delivery happen.
