Job Overview
To assist and support the provision of dental treatment and dental health promotion for all groups of patients cared for by the Community Dental Service. Patients will have a variety of special needs including learning disabilities and behavioural problems, physical disability, mental health conditions and complex medical conditions.
To assist the Dental Service Management Team in ensuring that dental facilities operate effectively and safely.
To support the organisation, monitoring and evaluation of dental care and provide information for the development of services and training of staff.

To line manage the dental nurse staff, including carrying out appraisal, clinical supervision, managing sickness and leave.
Undertake the normal duties expected of all dental nurses.
Work with the policies and procedures of the Trust and Coventry & Warwickshire Community Dental Service.
To support specialised treatment services for adults and children with special needs within the clinic, theatres and domiciliary settings.
To support the provision of treatment under general anaesthesia for special needs patients, and paediatric dental extractions.
To support the provision of treatment under sedation where appropriate.
Liaise with all branches of the profession, other health professionals, education and social services and voluntary agencies over the dental needs and service provision for people with special needs.
Support the Senior Management Team with the monitoring and evaluation of all service elements and any subsequent programmes of development.
