CFP Energy
CFP Energy is a leading provider of energy and environmental market solutions, helping organisations navigate the transition to a lower-carbon economy. The firm operates across carbon markets, environmental products and energy trading, supporting clients globally with market access, risk management and structured solutions.
Alongside our established energy and environmental markets business, we are expanding our commodities offering across agricultural and soft markets, delivering sophisticated risk management solutions to a growing client base. We are extending our structured solutions capability growing further commodities (carbon, power, gas, biofuels, oil, Cotton, Grains & Oilseeds, Sugar, Coffee, Cocoa) and are hiring a senior salesperson to lead origination and client coverage across the complex.
This is a senior hire with direct P&L accountability, embedded within our structured derivatives franchise. You will own a client book, originate structured trades end-to-end, and work alongside an experienced trading and sales team. The platform is lean, commercial, and built around partner-level decision-making.
Role
- Own and grow the energy and agricultural derivatives client book across corporations, refiners, producers, processors, merchants, end-users, trade houses and financial counterparties
- Originate, structure and execute tailored hedging and yield-enhancement solutions across structured exotic derivative products.
- Drive desk P&L through OTC structured trade revenue from client flow
- Partner with traders and other Sales teams to translate house views and client risk profiles into commercial trade ideas
- Provide clients with sharp, commercially relevant intelligence on supply/demand fundamentals, basis, freight, weather, policy and macro
- Negotiate trade economics, ISDA terms, margining and post-trade lifecycle events
- Build out the franchise: contribute to product development, mentor juniors, and shape the desk as it scales
- Represent CFP at industry events, conferences and key client meetings globally

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
