Role Overview

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will play a key role in leading the design and development of innovative automated machinery and robotic systems from concept through to manufacture and installation. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, customers and suppliers to deliver cutting-edge engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the mechanical design of bespoke machinery/automation equipment
  • Managing projects through the full product development lifecycle
  • Producing detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation
  • Driving design improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Supporting prototype development, testing, and validation activities
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Liaising with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth product delivery
  • Working directly with customers to develop and deliver innovative engineering solutions

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Significant experience within a mechanical design or product development environment
  • Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)
  • Experience designing machinery, automation equipment, or complex mechanical systems
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams
  • Previous experience mentoring or leading engineers would be advantageous
