Senior Design Engineer

Business Unit: 5105 - London

Job Role

Ringway Infrastructure Services is looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our London Projects Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highways design professional who wants to remain hands-on with design whilst also supporting, mentoring and developing junior engineers and technicians. Working on behalf of Transport for London and London Borough clients, you'll play a key role in delivering a diverse range of highway improvement schemes across the capital.

Duties

  • Producing and reviewing highway design drawings, specifications and reports.
  • Acting as Design Lead across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Leading designs through the full project lifecycle.
  • Managing project programmes and design delivery milestones.
  • Supporting and mentoring engineers, graduates and technicians.
  • Ensuring designs are safe, buildable and compliant with relevant standards.
  • Supporting delegated Principal Designer duties in accordance with CDM regulations.
  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders and internal operational teams.
  • Providing design assurance and technical guidance across the wider team.
  • Supporting commercial performance, forecasting and delivery against framework requirements.

Person Specification

  • Experience delivering highways design schemes within London or similar urban environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK highway design standards.
  • Previous experience working within consultancy, contractor or framework environments.
  • Experience designing carriageway, footway, cycling, bus and public realm schemes.
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and highway safety requirements.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and programme management capability.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and industry-standard highway design software.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time - 40 - Monday to Friday
