About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join a dynamic team dedicated to transforming defence systems from prototype to production. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing adaptable, learning-based defence solutions, including anti-drone and electronic warfare devices. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between innovative concepts and tangible, field-ready products. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on state-of-the-art projects in a small, motivated team environment, directly impacting the future of defence technology.
The Senior Design Engineer will work closely with mechanical, electronics, and software engineers, taking ownership of design processes from initial concept through to manufacturing. The role requires a hands-on approach, utilizing CAD tools and the company's on-site workshop facilities, including additive manufacturing and traditional machining. Given the nature of the products, the designs must be durable, reliable, and easy to manufacture, often deployed in challenging battlefield conditions. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating problem-solving agility and technical versatility.

Qualifications
- Strong educational background in a STEM discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, with a university degree.
- Proven experience in engineering design, preferably in defence, aerospace, or high-tech industries.
- Proficiency in CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
- Practical skills in workshop environments, including additive manufacturing (3D printing) and conventional machining techniques.
- Track record of taking products from concept to production, demonstrating problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Applicants must be British or dual British nationals and have resided in the UK continuously for the past five years.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of defence systems, ensuring they meet operational durability and manufacturability standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate ideas into practical prototypes and final products.
- Utilize CAD tools to create detailed designs, simulations, and technical documentation.
- Engage actively in workshop activities, including additive manufacturing and machining, to prototype and refine designs.
- Conduct testing and validation of prototypes, iterating designs based on performance data and field requirements.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and security standards relevant to defence applications.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining clear communication with team members and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and incorporate innovative solutions into product development.
